Alaia by vkacademy Alaia by vkacademy
This started out to be a submission for 's contest, but I don't think it quite fits her theme. However, I quite like it.

As for the name "Alaia," I came across it in a book of baby names the other day and thought it sounded pretty. So there.

The trees in the mid-or-background esp do it
for me - remind me of caspar david friedrich...
this is rather hypnotic....

Thank you. That's an artist I am not familiar with, but I am happy that you didn't say "Maxfield Parrish." lol

Warm, rich tones through out the picture all match and mesh beautifully. Awesome job!

Since a ba-jillion comments have already made the comparision, I shall refrain from doing so, Ms. Parrish. :shamrock:

*sigh...* I can't tell you this reminds me of the work of Maxfield Parrish...because it's been done... (but it DOES! ;-))

It really does, too. And I totally didn't think of it or notice the color scheme similarity until you people pointed it out. I'm not disappointed either. It's nice to groove into something that the collective already has a good feeling toward.

Ooo--nice way of putting it!!! :D Yeah--that's it, exactly!!! :D Funny that you didn't see it while working on it! Guess it just goes to show what tricksy things our subconsciouses are! ;-)

Another very good image. There is a strong feeling of Maxfield Parrish in the light upon the tree branches, and you've matched that light very well on the model. There is 'feeling' of translucence about her that, on closer inspection at full view, isn't actually there - really neat effect. Very strong image.

p.s. (sotto voce) ahem...um...and why were we looking though baby name books?

Touche! :D (And thank you! :-))

And may I just add--that I just looked through your stock--and you've got some AMAZING shots in there!!! Don't suppose you live anywhere near Boston, do you? (Sorry--it's the portrait photographer in me coming out--always looking for victims--er, I mean, subjects! ;-))

Alas, no. But if I did I'd be honoured to sit for you (or, as is more my style, to leap, fall, roll, strike and shoot for you ;-) ).

Thank you for the kind comment about the stock.

*sigh...* Figures--NO ONE seems to live in Boston!!! (Quite astounding, considering how crowded the sidewalks are, at noon! ;-)) As for leaping, falling, rolling, striking or shooting for me--well, I don't normally work with men--but your style is so graceful--so mobile--more like a cat than person--that if you SHOULD ever be in Boston--I surely hope you'd work with me! That would be AWESOME!!! :D

In the meantime--I'll have to content myself with just keeping an eye on whatever you post--and photograph vicariously, so to speak! ;-)
